The small village of Guča in western Serbia's peaceful district of Dragacevo has gained worldwide fame for one annual event – The Assembly of Trumpet Players, the largest trumpet event on the planet. A quick glance over the schedule gives you a rough idea of the festivities: a morning "trumpet awakening," followed by the "proposing a toast competition," then the election of the most beautiful popular costume, a parade, the brass orchestras competition, all finally wrapping up with the midnight brass orchestra. And that's only one of the five brass-filled, alcohol-fuelled days of festivities.
This charming documentary follows two ambitious young trumpet players in their quest to win "The Golden Trumpet." Around them swirl the festival's participants, eccentric locals, bellydancers, and the constant sound of Balkan brass band music.
Serbia's famous festival is brought brilliantly to life in this affectionate musical documentary.
